Lisa Nelson Memorial Scholarship
Lisa Just Had A Way
2024 Lisa Nelson's Mustang Stampede
Lisa was a physical education teacher and the head volleyball coach at Ralston Valley High School from 2000-2013. On March 3, 2013 she lost her life after a two-year battle with cervical cancer. She was 43.
She never let cancer compromise her way. Lisa battled cancer with dignity, strength and courage-never compromising her faith or teaching beliefs.
Jim Ellis, Ralston Valley Principal said “Lisa, taught us how to live for 41 years, and taught us how to die for 2."
Lisa touched many lives during her 13 year tenure as teacher and coach--as well as during her battle with cancer. Lisa's life philosophy was grounded on being passionate about what she did, and by doing what she loved in a caring and giving way. This was how she lived, fundamental to who she was.
To commemorate her life and to ensure others are touched by the legacy she left behind, the “Lisa Nelson Memorial Scholarship” has been established. Each year, a Ralston Valley High School student-athlete (male and female) will be awarded a $1,000 college scholarship in memory of Lisa.
The Lisa Nelson Memorial Scholarship Board wants to remember the legacy Lisa left behind and Pay It Forward... in the form of college scholarships for RVHS students.
